About the Author

Adrian Graham Streather was born on December 25, 1958. Upon leaving school he joined the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1975, where he trained as a Scientific Instrument Maker and gained additional qualifications in the electronics field. Adrian is the author of a number of Porsche books published with Veloce, including several in their Essential Buyer's Guide Series.

A mile wide but a foot deep and errors aplenty.

While thoroughly comprehensive covering most nuances of the 997, there are errors all over this book. Measurement tables, images, image captions, typos... almost every other page has some sort of error. For example, the image attached to this review shows a page where the width is incorrect for the GTS model (it is identical to the C4/S/Turbo at 1852mm) and the image caption states the image is of a 997.2 when in fact the image is of a 991.1. And this is BASIC stuff! There is not one color image in the entire book. Moreover, colors are referred to in image captions but without a colored image the caption is useless. Explanations that could be easy to understand with an accompanying image are absent one. Vice versa, there are images with little or no explanation or context. It's actually very frustrating to read this because it seems so much effort was put forth in gathering the information. It's unfortunate because there is a wealth of knowledge presented. It is simply organized poorly and tragically edited. This book is not worth buying IMO.

Not worth it

A weird book, not really sure where to place it. Not a real wrenching guide -- Wayne Dempsey's books are superb for that, and even the Bentley manual for the 996 is better than this book -- and not really a nicely illustrated coffee table book. Most info in it is available on the internet, in various forums, etc. I regret having spent $100 on it.

His topic, how to love well, will be of interest to many, and his simple prose style is easy and soothing to read. Hanh makes a point of trying to reach his modern audience, even those without Buddhist sensibility, with refences to E-mail and faxes in his chapter on deep listening. Elsewhere he speaks of four-star hotels as nothing compared to the "abode of Brahma...a four thousand star hotel." His message is clear: love yourself and others by listening deeply, using "right" speech, and building a strong sangha (community). To stay away from harming ourselves and others he advises mindfulness and practicing the four immeasurable minds?love, compassion, joy, and equanimity. A Valuable Practice Guide

Once more our beloved Zen master and amazing poet does it again in yet another spiritual masterpiece, guiding us all towards a more meaningful and joyful life. I actually may very well believe that this particular text is the very finest you will ever read on this much debated topic: Love. In Buddhism there is a teaching known as The Four Immeasurable Minds. They are love, compassion, joy, and equanimity. The root and source of love is in all human beings, and it is our responsibility to realize this and cultivate love as the way of our very lives.
He starts with beneficial practices here on just how to do that seemingly arduous task; how to listen to others with patience, how to accept and love yourself, and ultimately how in a sense "rewrite your karma." Thich covers issues like anger and jealousy, which of course cause ourselves and countless others innumerable amounts of stress and trouble. As with some of his other works where he advises we create, for instance, our own sutra -Thich likewise develops 4 original mantras in a chapter here intended to develop a loving relationship with all that is through a program of awareness, respect for ourselves and others, nurturing, and perhaps most importantly communication.
It's with practice suggestions and the like which Thay provides here that make this work a landmark in his teaching career. Just when you think you've reaped all which Thich Nhat Hanh has to offer you, a book like this comes along to refresh your expert mind back to a baby. After all, a baby's mind is open to most anything, it has nothing to do but learn. And so is our practice. Learning, cultivation, hardship. To sum up, practice is our life.
Teachings on Love may be that book you are looking for in times of Great Doubt which reminds you of the potential of your practice, thus renewing your Great Belief. This work is a testament to the wonderful teachings this modern master always seems to deliver. I can't actually recommend this one enough. Enjoy it.

"Teachings on Love" helps water those seeds of love in your heart. Here one of the parts I liked the most:
"Look into the eyes of your beloved and ask deeply, "Who are you, my love, who has come to me and taken my suffering as your suffering, my happiness as your happiness, my life and death as your life and death? Who are you whose self has become my self? Why aren't you a dewdrop, a butterfly, a bird, a pine tree? Ask with your whole body and mind. Later, you will have to ask the person who causes you the most suffering the same questions...To understand, you have to become one with your beloved, and also one with your so-called enemy. You have to worry about what they worry about, suffer their suffering, appreciate what they appreciate. You and the object of your love cannot be two. They are as much you as you are yourself...See and listen with the whole of your being. If you are fully present, the rain of the Dharma will water the deepest seeds in your store consciousness, and tomorrow, while you are washing the dishes or looking at the blue sky, that seed will spring forth, and love and understanding will appear as a beautiful flower."
Beautiful isn't it? Now I must go, I need to begin my practice...

this book is REALLY and TRULY LIFE CHANGING... there is something about the words and the way its written that you can't put it down until you're finished reading it, and there's an overwhelming sense of peace that comes over everyone who reads and finishes it.

it is short... to the point.. and really inspirational. i keep a copy on my bedside table and open it almost every day to find the nearest highlighted quote to give me energy...

Since i have read this book (and his other books also) i have seriously changed my life for the better... it is so simple to do... you realize the power of peaeful and mindful living and how easy it is to do

Excellent textbook, it was very easy to understand all the macroeconomic concepts presented and the integrated examples throughout the book were very helpful in applying the material to the real world. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. Although I used this for a college class, I'm sure a high school student could understand these concepts just as well using this book.

Lies, Dang Lies, and Keynesian Economics.

This book is all Keynesian economics. Keynesian is AKA "Corporate Propaganda to Benefit Big Banks." Inflation is the weapon of choice of Banksters and corrupt governments world wide. "How an economy grows and why it doesn't" is a book based on reality. The documentary "money masters" Shows the truth of who and why is in control.

About the Author

Before quitting his job in publishing to write Department 19, Will Hill worked as a bartender, a bookseller and a door-to-door charity worker. He grew up in the north-east of England, is scared of spiders, and is a big fan of cats. He lives in east London with his girlfriend, where he splits his time between staring out of the window and staring at a computer screen. The latter tends to be more productive.

OMG - go get this!

This is so much more than a book for children! It grabs your attention from the very start and takes the reader on roller coaster ride, saying to save the world as we know it to the very end of the book. It is superbly written in an engaging style with strong characters - both ‘good’ and ‘bad’. Whilst this is the fourth book in the series, it can still be read as a stand alone - I hadn’t read the others but still thoroughly enjoyed this rip roaring adventure.

Dracula, vampires, cures for vampirism, disappearing allies, familiar faces reappearing, horror, miracle cures, mystery and mayhem all have a part to play in this hot paced horror story. I’m desperate not to give away any spoilers so will say nothing more about the fantastic plot and well defined and developed characters. This is a story that entertains, engages and enthrals the reader - child, young adult or older! Very highly recommended!

Best of the series so far

I was a bit annoyed with the first book, because the heroes were so fixed in their hatred of vampires, where as we, the readers, saw vampires as good and bad and often an uneasy mix of both. By this book it is clear that Mr Hill understood what he was doing and was challenging the readers to disagree with the consensus.

Though the hero of the book is Jamie Carpenter, for me, the stand out character is Larissa. She is the reason I pre-order Mr Hill's books. He has created a sidekick/friend/lover who stands out in the field. And he keeps her and Jamie human, even though she hasn't been from day one.

This is a great adventure story, a great fantasy, an evolving series that grows in stature with every book published. This is the best so far, but I expect the next book to be better.

Loved the book! Will Hill is an amazing author that rights his book in a way that it's so believable that if I didn't know any better I would think every single word of it true. And I reckon an author with that skill and ability should get credit from not just the people who read his books but from every body who reads books and should be up there with the greats like Stephen king or J.K Rowling.
